The Latest on COVID-19 Children’s Vaccines, Boosters and Combating Misinformation
The COVID-19 vaccine rollout for children ages 5-11 is well underway. Booster shots are now approved for everyone 18 and older. If enough eligible people get vaccinated, we will get through the pandemic faster, and save lives. But misinformation continues to be a major barrier to vaccine confidence.
Surgeon General Vivek H. Murthy, MD, MBA, is on a mission to combat misinformation, and he’s enlisting the help of community organizations, public health organizations and workforces to ensure families and communities can make informed decisions about vaccine readiness and uptake.
On November 30th, 2021, the Surgeon General, along with Capt. Janell A. Routh, a pediatrician and co-deputy of the implementation unit of CDC’s vaccine task force provided an update on COVID-19 misinformation, vaccines, variants and boosters during an hour-long conversation with CDC Foundation President and CEO Dr. Judy Monroe.
