Join the Giving Tuesday Movement

Today is GivingTuesday, a global day of giving back, and we invite you to join this global generosity movement by supporting the CDC Foundation’s critical public health programs. GivingTuesday is a global movement created in 2012 that inspires people everywhere to rally together and support the causes that are important to them, such as lifesaving public health programs at the CDC Foundation. As an independent nonprofit organization, the CDC Foundation relies on support from caring friends like you.

When you join this global movement on GivingTuesday through your gift to the CDC Foundation, you will make double the impact this year! CDC Foundation Board Member Elaine Chambers and her husband, John, have offered a generous matching gift that will double your GivingTuesday contribution up to a total of $50,000. Please give now to join the movement. When you give to the CDC Foundation you ensure quality health for people in your community and around the world.

Elaine and John said it best:

“Now more than ever, the importance of excellent public health structure in this country and the world has become paramount. This last year and a half has taught all of us that no one country, organization, company or leader can solve the world’s health issues by themselves. It requires working together as part of a global community. Please join us in supporting the CDC Foundation in its mission to provide critical health protection for all.”

— Elaine and John Chambers, Matching Gift Donors

Since the CDC Foundation started more than 25 years ago, we have become a catalyst for public health partnerships. We believe that people and organizations can have a greater impact when we all work together. Through our programs to address health threats in America and across the globe, we combine your support with that of others to make us all healthier, safer and more secure.

Through the support of our donors, the CDC Foundation supports the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other public health responders as we all work together to save and improve lives. The CDC Foundation creates hundreds of innovative, high-impact programs that save and improve millions of lives worldwide, from responding to emergencies like Ebola, COVID-19 and natural disasters to creating innovative solutions to public health challenges and addressing health disparities.

We invite each of you to give whatever you are able to fund our critical public health mission. No gift is too small. When you make a contribution today, you will not only double the impact of your gift, but you’ll advance critical research, surveillance and initiatives to save and improve lives.

We have several new tools to make it even easier to give to CDC Foundation. For donors with donor advised funds (DAF), it is now easier than ever to give through our new DAF Tool. This easy online DAF tool allows you to communicate your wishes, share the details of your gift and can help you navigate to your financial institution or community foundation.

We also have new IRA and stock tools to give you even more options of ways to give to support the CDC Foundation’s critical public health mission. With the IRA tool you are able to donate directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) for tax benefits and higher charitable impact, quickly and easily. Donating appreciated assets avoids federal capital gains taxes and provides a federal income tax deduction for the current market value of the gift. Similar state tax benefits are also provided in most of the country.

Thank you for all your contributions to the CDC Foundation. Together, we will help usher in a better, healthier, more united world to improve the public’s health! Together our impact is greater.

Don’t forget, when you make a charitable contribution of cash to a qualifying public charity in 2021 under the CARES Act, you can deduct up to 100 percent of your adjusted gross income. The CARES Act temporarily increases the individual AGI limits for cash contributions made to qualified public charities in 2021.

Join with us—together our impact is greater!
