New Bilingual Clean Hands and Spaces Training for K-12 and ECE Settings
Good hygiene practices are important to keep everyone healthy in schools and early care and education (ECE) facilities. Hand hygiene can prevent 1 in 3 cases of diarrhea and 1 in 5 respiratory infections, such as cold or the flu. School-based and ECE programs promoting hand hygiene can also result in fewer missed school days.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the CDC Foundation have developed a free, interactive, online training on hand hygiene and cleaning in Spanish and English for educators, administrators and supporting personnel in K-12 and ECE settings. Continuing education credits are available for professional development credit (course evaluation and post-test must be completed in English).
This four-module training focuses on:
- How and when to clean hands
- How to create a hygiene plan in an educational environment
- How to select, use and safely store cleaners and disinfectants
- How to work with parents and caregivers to build good habits with children
The training is self-paced to ensure it is convenient for busy educators and will prepare school and ECE staff to better protect themselves and children in their facilities from illness due to poor hand hygiene practices.
