CDC Foundation Receives Eighth Consecutive 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator

For the eighth consecutive year, the CDC Foundation has achieved a 4-star rating by Charity Navigator (see the rating). Four stars is the highest rating awarded by Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest and most-utilized evaluator of charities. 

As the independent, nonprofit partner of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the CDC Foundation builds partnerships between CDC and businesses, foundations, organizations and individuals to advance CDC's work to build public health programs that make the world healthier and safer.

The core components of Charity Navigator ratings—financial health, accountability and transparency—are measured annually. During the 2013 fiscal year, CDC Foundation spent the majority of its budget, 83.5 percent, on program expenses and only 8.9 percent on administrative expenses and 5.9 percent on fundraising.

As defined by Charity Navigator, a 4-star rating indicates that a charity has exceeded industry standards and outperforms most charities in its cause.
